Urban transformation is reshaping communities across Indonesia and the Global South. To address these pressing challenges, education must go beyond the classroom; engaging students in cross-cultural, hands-on research and policy innovation.

The Future Challenges Lab minor program does exactly that. In its second edition held in WINNER 2025. Indonesian, Dutch, and international students work together on sustainable practices, using co-creation and citizen science to explore how cities adapt and build resilience.

WINNER conference 2025 in Indonesia

This year’s conference theme, “Building a Sustainable Future through Education and Research,” highlights the urgent need for interdisciplinary dialogue and multi-stakeholder engagement in addressing global challenges. 

WINNER 2025 aims to explore innovative approaches to sustainability education, transdisciplinary collaboration, ethical research practices, equity and inclusion, climate action, technological innovation, and lifelong learning. By facilitating collaboration between academia, businesses, NGOs, and government institutions, WINNER seeks to drive meaningful progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Scheduled to take place from 7 October to 9 October 2025, the conference will be a hybrid event, allowing participants to join both online and in person in Indonesia. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in Jakarta, while the second day of the conference will be hosted by IPB University in Bogor. To accommodate participants across different time zones, sessions will be scheduled between 09:00-13:00 CET and 14:00-18:00 WIB.
