EURO-CEFG lanceert interuniversitair PhD-programma

The European Research Centre for Economic and Financial Governance (EURO-CEFG) is an interdisciplinary research centre of Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam. EURO-CEFG has a vacancy for:

3 positions as PhD Fellow (38 hours a week)

The PhD Fellow will carry out doctoral research on the basis of an individual research proposal falling within one of the areas of expertise of EURO-CEFG and will conduct contractual research for EURO-CEFG within the scope of the research proposal. EURO-CEFG is aiming at employing one PhD Fellow each for each of the following research clusters: ‘Financial Regulation and Supervision’, ‘Politics, Decision-making and Innovation in European Economic and Financial governance’, ‘Constitutional Dimension of European Economic and Monetary Integration’. The research will be carried out under the supervision of two professors from the three Universities affiliated to EURO-CEFG as Research Fellows. In line with the interdisciplinary spirit of the centre, applicants are encouraged to submit interdisciplinary research proposals.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in law, economics or political science with a specific focus on economic and financial governance;
  • An explicit interest in interdisciplinary research in European affairs;
  • Research qualities demonstrated by a Master thesis and/or academic publications;
  • Teaching experience is not a requirement, but is considered an advantage;
  • An excellent command of the English language.

Tasks

  • Conduct PhD research;
  • Participate in and organise scientific activities within the framework of the research project (conferences, seminars);
  • Support the centre’s activities in the fields related to the PhD research;
  • Publish one of more articles in the course of the research in (international) journals;
  • Carry out research funded externally and for external clients.

We offer

  • A position as a PhD candidate in the university function classification system;
  • The appointment as PhD Fellow will be for a period of four years (initially for a period of one year with an extension of three years after positive evaluation of progress and skills development) leading to the successful completion of a PhD thesis. The appointment will be under the terms of the CAO (Collective Labour Agreement) of Dutch Universities;
  • This is a full-time position;
  • The PhD Fellows are integrated in EURO-CEFG’s PhD Associate’s programme that brings together PhD candidates researching in the field of economic and financial governance. EURO-CEFG organises regular exchanges between PhD Associates and Research Fellows;
  • Salary scale in accordance with the CAO (Collective Labour Agreement) for Dutch universities. For a full-time appointment, the salary is € 2,174 gross per month during the first year, which will increase annually up to € 2,779 gross per month in the fourth year. In addition, the attractive employment package includes an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, generous leave provisions for a healthy work-life balance, a good pension scheme, excellent options for collective insurance, and a provision for the use of the Internet at home. The employee may also use a number of campus facilities, such as sports facilities and the library;
  • Starting date: Autumn 2016.
